Use this tool to install rear mains crankshaft oil seals 89060436, 12634614, 12665076 and 12693255 or rear cover assembly 12639250.
Generation V LT1 engines also require adapter J-41479-10 or ST-197-10.
If you have the following seal/rear housing part numbers 12639250 or 89060436 you need the following: J-41479-C or ST-197.
Supercharged 6.2L V8s will have a 9-bolt rear crankshaft flange due to their performance output. Previous tool J-41479 will not fit 9-bolt crankshafts. J-41479-B will back-service to 1998. Unapproved installation methods may damage or incorrectly install the seal, resulting in leaks.
If you working on a TBI SBC(Throttle Body Injection Small Block Chevy) or MPI Vortec SBC (Multi Port Injection Vortec Small Block Chevy) engine with one piece rear main seal from 1986 to 1998 you'll need J-35621-B (Plastic Tool) or ST-192 (Steel Tool) to install the rear main seal.
There is no OEM tooling for GM SBC two-pieces rear main seals.
