DT-52988 ProShear Nut Socket - 2.125 in Alternative
The wheel hub and brake rotor assembly is held on the full-floating rear axle by a hub nut against the hub bearing. The hub nut is used to retain the hub and rotor assembly in position, and also controls the bearing preload and hub end play. Certain MY2021 and 2022 axles are changing to a ProShear hub nut for improved performance.
These ProShear nuts are a unitized design, which replaces the current nut, lock, and key design. DT-52988 fits the ProShear nut used on 11.5” and 12.0” SRW rear axles in full-size pickup truck models. The ProShear nut cannot be driven correctly without using DT-52988, and failure to use DT-52988 will not allow the nut to be removed without damage, or to be installed to reach the correct preload and end play.
Applications: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra with 11.5” or 12.0” rear axle with Single Rear Wheels (SRW)
